The biggest complaint we get from our staff when using advanced provisioner is that setting up BLF is a huge pain for larger companies. To be more detailed:
- They would rather have a single page (rather than tabs) where they could see/enter all of the BLF fields rather than have to keep clicking between and go back and forth. This is just a UX thing.
- It would be easier if phones that all had the same BLF (i.e. two parking spots) could be duplicated rather than have to re-type it on every phone. This is a pain for doing presence for other phones as well, but not sure how to accomplish this across all phones since every phone is slightly different. Is this what you meant by: "Adding a company directory to auto-provision with the phone" ?? If so, maybe we're on the same page.
- Sidecar support is still nonexistent which makes it a pain for customers who use them.
- They would like to be able to paste the custom config in a text box on the provisioner page rather than have to create and upload a CFG to an external web server and then link to it.

So we had two clients report to us today that they've been having issues over the last two weeks. And multiple calls I was on today had terrible quality with the call cutting in and out.
I'll open a ticket about this.
-
I'm a little confused by this - is it a poor man's call queue just like someone would log in or out of a call queue?
-
Funny you mention this. At my house I FiOS and also have one of our office phones and I've noticed poor call quality this week. I thought maybe FiOS was just doing something funky in my area since no clients have complained, and it's fine at our office...

Thank you SOOO much! Our clients have been waiting for this feature for a long time and are really excited about it!

I think going forward the best way would be to create media that allow for a Stream URL, but it requires some back-end work. Would you mind filing a ticket against the back-end for this?
Feel free to also file a ticket for the UI to add a Stream URL field to the media dropdown in ring groups!

It was added to 4.1 indeed, in adv. callflows, when dropping a Media Node, you'll now have the option to enter a Shoutcast URL or pick one of your existing medias.
@JR^ - So I see this now which is awesome, but the option doesn't exist in ring groups :-( We have a client who wants to hear a SHOUTcast URL stream for the ringback music in ring groups. Can we either have the stream URL option available in ring groups, or have the ability to create a media file that is just a stream URL?
-
Still think it should be added to the UI :-)

Wait...I thought when you change a ring group and click okay, it saves it when the popup closes so there isn't a need to save the call flow? (hence no warning message) - I just tested it and confirmed this behavior.
-
I thought this wasn't possible because it's a phone-specific setting? Polycoms for example don't have this option.

Hello,
First, Choosing "Inherit" for the "Type" and "Account" fields on Combo Key 1 is working. It successfully inherited "Line" and "Account 1".
On combo key 2 the "Inherit" for "Type" succesfully chose "Line". However, when choosing "Inherit" for "Account" on this key it incorrectly chose "Account 2" even though the tooltip says "Inherits Account 1 from the Defaults".
I did not test this on Combo Key 3 but I assume it would probably increment to "Account 3"
I reported that bug like a year ago...guess it's not fixed yet.

e,
One thing I like to do when troubleshooting provisioning stuff is to pull up the config in a web browser before and after making changes and see if the config is the same or different. You can copy the URL from the phone and then add the MAC address .cfg to the end of the URL. The MAC will need to be lower case. This might help you identify if something is getting set right.
This way you can see the changes without having to worry about "Use User Settings" as well.
@Logicwrath didn't you report that there seem to be inheritance problems with the provisioner?

API call would work:
curl -i -H "Accept: application/json" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "X-Auth-Token:REPLACEME" -X GET http://api.zswitch.net:8000/v2/accounts/REPLACEME/devices
You would still need to manipulate it and paste into a spreadsheet, but this is still a lot easier than browsing through the UI.

Hey Karl, do you think it could be done with a pivot? I haven't played with them much, but I'd think that'd be the route to go down. Just a thought.
Potentially, I just don't know anything about Pivot :-(

Thanks for your input though. This proves it can be done so I'd love input from 2600hz...

I had made it work by editing ecallmgr document into system_config schema, in couchdb. Changing "default_ringback": "%(2000,4000,440,480)", to "default_ringback": "$${hold_music}" and then restart ecallmgr service
Hmm, unfortunately that wouldn't work on hosted :-/

i may be mistaken but, i think that any reference to media can be a SHOUTcast stream. maybe the UI didn't reflect this in all places ?
Maybe that isn't until 4.1? I definitely don't see it in the UI anywhere...
-
Hmm, interesting idea and that would be a good work around. Although it would be even better if you could just set the ring group to use the system's default hold :-) This would allow you to also play SHOUTcast streams for ring groups.

Never ever tried an probably not working , but if you're routing to a user that is forwarded to *3701 (park) would that work?
Nope, doesn't work :-/
Plus even if it does work, the user would hear "call placed in parking spot x"

Ok, confused... If you want inbound callers to be automatically put on hold without any indication to the end user that's a queue. Unless they don't ever want the call routed to them??? If so, they won't be in business long. Sorry Karl, I've got to missing something here.
Well not quite. A queue would be ringing whoever is a member of the queue and the calls would line up in order that they came in. This would simply be like calls being automatically put into a parking spot using the parking lot feature where it assigns them a parking spot automatically.
-
The other use case is that now with SHOUTcast on-hold support, we've had customers who want to be able to dial into a number to hear a SHOUTcast stream. So if there was a way to automatically put them on hold as soon as they called, then they would be able to hear this.
