Reseller Accounting

Manage Usage and Bill Clients

The reseller accounting tool is to allow you to view your client’s usage and determine what to bill them. The Application takes into account both what you were billed as a reseller, and what you should bill your client based on the service information you have set up for them. The reseller accounting tool allows you to make a request to generate a report for either all or some of your Accounts. You can report on Accounts one month at a time and all reports are for an entire month.

To Queue a Reseller Report

  1. To use the reseller accounting tool, ask your provider to enable it on your master reseller account.
  2. Once enabled, go to the Apps section of the user interface and select the Reseller Accounting application.
  3. Select the sub-accounts you are interested in reporting on
  4. Enter an email address where you wish to receive a notification when the report has generated
  5. When you receive the email notification, you should go back into the Reseller Accounting tool and click the tab labeled "previous reports". You should see recently generated reports listed there.

Please note that reports are only available for a few hours after generation. You should download them as soon as possible to avoid having to re-generate them.

The reports that are generated include:

  • A breakdown of every call made by each user For each call, whether you were billed (as a reseller) and for how much
  • For each call, whether your client should be billed (based on the amount of trunks and credit you have allocated to them)
  • For each call, what the rate for the call was and to what location (i.e. CANADA, TOKYO, etc.)
  • A summary of costs per location (i.e. all calls to CANADA were $1.52) A summary of all costs to you, as a reseller
  • A summary of all costs to your client, as a subscriber
  • Once you see a report, you can review the quantity of specific services your clients are using, how much your Accounts are being charged, and how much 2600Hz is charging you. At the very bottom of the document, you can review the totals of what you pay 2600Hz, what you collect from your Accounts, and your total margin.

Resource Allocation Types

When a call is made, there is a determination made at call setup time as to whether the call can count towards a flat-rate usage amount, a per-minute usage amount or is free. This determination is made twice - once for the reseller, and separately for the customer, as configured.

To help you keep tabs on how we billed a particular call, and against what pool of resources, your report will have two columns - one for the reseller and one for the customer - that will contain data like "per_minute", "flat_rate" or "limits_disabled". These mean:

  • "per_minute" : The call was billed per-minute because no available trunks could be used to complete the call.
  • "flat_rate" : The call was included for free, as part of your monthly subscription to inbound / outbound / two-way trunks.
  • "limits_disabled" : The call was to or from a number which is non-billable. Such numbers include bring-your-own-carrier numbers and toll-free numbers.

Individual Sub-account Reports

The generated reports include a file with all CDRs for the month for each sub-account selected. Only calls which were to the PSTN and generated a rating request (an attempt to bill) are included in the report. Extension dialed calls are not included. Additionally, the owner of the call is not included.

Call Forwarded Calls

Please note that if a call comes in on a phone number and then is forwarded back out, TWO entries will exist in the CDR. One is for the billing of the inbound call, and one is for billing the outbound call. This is not an error.
