  1. The entire site is gone. It seems they are trying their best to kill off the 2600Hz / Kazoo brand. It's not a joke. All the KazooCon videos are all "unlisted" on YouTube, and that is why I referenced the site instead of all the videos shown on there.  Why else would they keep all the videos unlisted, and kill the whole site?

Or, it could be the site was compromised?

I think the lack of communication is where the frustration comes from. If they no longer plan to release v5 then thats fine, it would just be good to see some communication about it.

They  did mention version 5 would not be released until after their Market Place would be released. A year ago, they had a Talking Heads KazooCon where a demonstration of that store was given.

You can access eight video presentations from here:

Strangely, all of the videos are UNLISTED. Not sure why one would do that, especially when trying to promote business or products.

In my opinion, 2600Hz has all the rights to do what every they want with their project.
Still, it will be appreciated to be more transparent about this project. Last year (2022), they said that they estimate the V5 will be released at the beginning of 2023. a long time passed until then, so we can get some hints about their attention to the project after all the git repo was not updated for a long time.

And yet, of course, I greatly respect 2600Hz for their great project. It's  not obvious.

KazooCon is next month. Perhaps something will be announced then.

@mc_ appreciate the input. I'm personally happy to pay 2600hz, especially for apps. However, a small operation like mine tried to get a quote and it was all USA hosting for a lot considering our small customer base.

I will add, I do try to contribute from time to time, but my PR from 3 years ago is still open (and still fixes an active issue)

About the same time they stopped working on version 4

I don't think I've seen a roadmap for 5.x OSS release.  Would be nice if they did, because I assume there would be some community assistance in debugging and features.  I've got one of my guys that I've asked to start learning Erlang so that we can assist when that day comes.

Because there is no roadmap. They indicated 3+ years ago that they would release a app market before they would release Kazoo 5. That app market has never come to fruition.  I don't think there any more plans on Open Source. Even their Quaterly News report stopped over a  year ago.

I am quite indifferent. Some of my customers have chosen/migrated  alternative pbx's in the mean time. These are less robust compared to kazoo, but they solve at least the basics.

Meantime? They have gone silent on anything with regards to open source. Even Sangoma has announced plans to go all SaaS in the future.

  7. Call queue is when a series of callers are put on hold awaiting for someone to answer them.

Call waiting is when a call comes into the extension while the extension is use, but continues to ring for the caller. The extension being called will hear a tone in their ear to indicate a call is coming in. and as well may see indication on the telephone screen.
