  1. Anir,

You can setup all of those features in the AP you just need to know the values.

To setup personal parking setup a BLF key to *feature code(extension)

For general parking spots its *feature code(parking spot number)

speed dials are just the number +5551231456

and BLF are the presence number, if you setup users in smartpbx it will be the extension number. and then make the label the persons name

    Hi Tim,

SmartPBX and Advanced Provisioner are indeed connected and they use the same provisioning URL.

SmartPBX is great, but very limited and you have to use it exactly as it wants you to use it. Any customizations or changes aren't going to work well with it. We've found that customers who need logins should only have access to SmartPBX, but sometimes then they are disappointed that they can't get some of the more complex functionality.

For provisioning specifically, with SmartPBX you can't do a ton other than just set the line keys/feature keys. For most people this is fine, but some customers (especially those who want an environment that is more similar to an old style PBX system) they will want a ton of things customized beyond the defaults that SmartPBX has to offer. Advanced provisioner allows you to modify a ton of settings, as well as specify custom config too. But there's no way I would let customers touch it (at least with our customers).

The question I think comes down to who us going to be using it? Your technically trained employees, or customers that may not have technical skill sets?

We have staff who is technically trained, but we also allow customers to manage their individual phone systems.

I write alot of our help center documentation and wanted to know if it was worth highlighting the GUI side of smartpbx, but what you are saying makes more sense now as I was under the impression the systems were isolated and separate.

Can they be used interchangeably? Like for customizing line configuration names etc or does one ultimately overwrite the other?

  3. I am looking for some clarification, and I am hoping you guys can help.

When provisioning Devices, what is the difference between configuring them in smartpbx vs the advanced provisioner?

are the provisioning links the same for both to connect a phone to the config within smartpbx? or are the 2 systems connected?

This may sound super newbie-ish but I have been working with just the Advanced provisioner, but with our company onboarding more people, I am wondering if creating everything is smartpbx's GUI will be eaiser to train our employee's and customers to configuring the phones themselves...

Any help or info is appreciated.
