Karl Stallknecht Posted April 15, 2015 Report Posted April 15, 2015 On the Polycom VVX series phones, BLF keys for parking spots will still cause the phone to display "incoming call" on the screen if a call is in any of the parking spots. This is confusing to end users. This behavior was previously present on Polycom SoundPoint IP series phones as well, but was resolved about a month ago when you released a new update.
2600Hz Employees Kristin Muramoto Posted April 15, 2015 2600Hz Employees Report Posted April 15, 2015 Hi Karl,We agree this is confusing. Can we ask what the 'Feature Keys' type is set to? Is it set to Normal or Automata?
Karl Stallknecht Posted April 16, 2015 Author Report Posted April 16, 2015 When setting to automata, you can't tell what the caller ID is since the screen goes back to the home screen. The BLF key will light up, but that is it. This behavior holds true for both the SoundPoint IP and VVX phones. When setting to normal, the VVX series phones will say incoming call on the entire screen. The SoundPoint IP phones will say something else (can't remember entirely) that is clearly not an incoming call, and that box will show the caller ID.
Administrators Darren Schreiber Posted April 16, 2015 Administrators Report Posted April 16, 2015 I believe the Automata option (and the blinking light being the only identifier) is actually the correct behavior. It's not supposed to show anything on the screen when the call is parked - the light is simply supposed to illuminate.
Karl Stallknecht Posted April 16, 2015 Author Report Posted April 16, 2015 That's what I figured, I was just intrigued by the different behavior on the VVX series phones versus the older SoundPoint IP series phones.
Clint Berry Posted June 11, 2015 Report Posted June 11, 2015 The reason it shows an incoming call by default is in case you want to do a park orbit subscribe. Then the function key behaves as if multiple incoming calls are coming in, even though in reality they are parked. This allows you to press and hold the function key and it will list all calls on that orbit and allow you to pick one up.
